A weekend away. Let's pretend we're on tour again. Italy, France, Canada… Ahh.
All you need to worry about is the cycling. We'll take care of the food, drink and entertainment. It's a reunion for all past and new clients. A weekend away catching up with friends. We also have a goal to raise a few dollars for our kids on bikes charity. In fact, in 2019 we supplied Naenae Primary with 25 brand new bikes. Which school will it be in 2020? Your participation will certainly help.
So, please join us. It will be great fun. How could it not be - we start and finish our ride at a brewery.
Day 1 - Friday 13 March
Feel free to arrive at any time. Please drive safely.
Our home for the next two nights is Pahiatua in the northern Wairarapa. Home to the Ride Holidays cycle festival which features tomorrow's Bush Tour. (fun ride)
We've booked out a lodge (retired hospital) for the whole weekend. There's about 100 beds so let's fill them. Everywhere you look will be pink and navy as all our loyal clients descend upon this small town of 4000 residents.
Tonight we keep it simple - we've arranged a rolling buffet at the Black Stump Café which is about 1km from our accommodation. Turn up when you want. Dinner will be waiting. Yes, they have a bar.

Day 2 - Saturday 14 March
The Bush Cycle Tour
It's not the biggest sportive in the world however it's growing. And we plan to make it the best. This is the 2nd year that RIDE Holidays have really got in behind it. We're expecting up to 100 of our loyal clients to ride today. For us it's all about quality and the Bush offers that in spades… Quality course, Quality Organisation and Safety, Quality post event entertainment, food and drink. And the start / finish is only 4km away from our accommodation.
Speaking of the start…. It's in the grounds of the iconic Tui Brewery. That's got to be a good thing. They're also putting on breakfast for us so roll down when you're ready, have a coffee and then let's ride. You can choose between two distances. All feature stunning rural roads and make sure you stop for the Ride Holidays coffee cart which is parked half way. It's not overly challenging. You won't see a Mont Ventoux. The MacDougalls 117km ride runs through picturesque country roads around Eketahuna, (Dryers Rock being the major climb) and Alferton returning to the TUI HQ and Brewery. It has 971 meters of climbing with 4 good climbs.
Or, the more relaxed - Christie Stone Co. 55km. Same quiet country quiet roads but it doesn't make it quite as far as Eketahuna. You'll climb a total of 446m which is almost completely flat. Maybe a slight false flat.
And for those who prefer the mud…. There's even a mountain biking option. Exact details will be confirmed closer to the event date.
Out on the 117km road course will be the Ride Holidays coffee and cake cart. It's a carrot cake and it's bloody marvellous. Just wait and see.
The fun really starts after you've finished. You'll see some top notch local food, craft beer and local wine. And that's just for lunch. After prize giving we'll head back to our digs for a shower and refresh.
Tonight we head back to the Black Stump. It's a great meal and we'll have a significant amount of money on the bar. There will be a few stories told.

Day 3 - Sunday 15 March
A short ride prior to a late breakfast. Let's get the legs moving. Only 30km however it's guided by the ride director from yesterday - Kevin Laskey. We call in to the Black Stump on the way back to our accommodation for breakfast which obviously includes coffee.
We say goodbye to all our fellow RH mates and head in different directions. Let's do this all again next year. Thank you for joining us.

NZD430.00 per person twin share for cyclists (2 nights)
NZD350.00 per person twin share for non-riders (would you like to volunteer for the Bush Classic??) ** In 2019 - the non-riders all took off for the Harvest Festival near Masterton. If the date is the same then we will again arrange this.
Single room - add $60.00
NZD300.00 per person if you prefer to stay only 1 night. (includes 1 x b/fast, lunch and dinner)
